Psychotherapy

Kintsugi.jpg

The decision to engage yourself in a therapeutic relationship is a courageous choice that can yield rewarding and profound insights and changes in your life. I believe that people are naturally oriented towards growth and I find it a great privilege to partner with my clients as we discover and explore the complexities and challenges of their unique story. Our work will be collaborative as I assist you in finding wholeness, balance, a greater acceptance of yourself and relational and spiritual health.

Therapy begins with my listening carefully and respectfully to your story. My approach is psychodynamically oriented which means I value your early life and family relationships and how your history impacts your current relationships and behaviors. My style is insight-oriented and relationally focused, emphasizing the value of a safe and trustworthy therapeutic relationship.  The latest research on neuroscience, attachment theory, somatic-based therapies and mindfulness-based practices inform the work I do as well. Most importantly, I consider psychotherapy deep soul work.

I believe every person is unique and I strive to tailor treatment to the specific needs of each client, always seeking the good of the whole person. I welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, spiritual paths, and walks of life.

The Enneagram

The Enneagram is ancient tool of self discovery and ultimately, transformation. It is a psychological and spiritual framework that helps us move towards more authentic living through gaining a deeper understanding of our personality. It teaches us about nine distinct patterns of human character. Each of us is dominant in one of the Enneagram types, and by observing the patterns of our particular type we become more capable of loosening the grip our preferred coping strategies have on us. These nine patterns illuminate for us the ways we get lost in life and show us a path back to our original essence, or true self. The Enneagram invites us to deeper self-awareness as a doorway to spiritual growth.

Enneagram types aren’t merely ‘types’ of people but paths to God.
— Russ Hudson

I have been a student of the Enneagram for twenty years and have attended a number of trainings facilitated by teachers of different schools of thought.  I often use the Enneagram in my work with clients. Whether you are familiar with the tool or it is brand new to you, let’s discuss whether or not you’d like to incorporate it into our work.

I have included some Enneagram resources in the Resources tab.
