Meet Kendra

One of my highest values is lifelong learning. And I feel an immense gratitude for my twenty-plus years of work as a psychotherapist, for it provides me with continual learning opportunities as I sit with people, listen to their stories and join them in creating new pathways to growth and healing.

The invitation to explore the story of another is something that I never tire of. In our work together, my goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where trust, acceptance, and honest conversation can develop. I endeavor to listen with compassion as we explore the layers of your story.

I believe psychotherapy is a collaborative process where my clients can learn to cope with their current struggles while also fostering a curiosity about their deeper selves. I believe healing comes from the therapeutic relationship that the client and I create together.

More than symptom relief and alleviation of pain, I hope our work together will facilitate personal growth and deep self-acceptance.  Together, we will work to develop insight, to navigate the challenges you are facing and to rediscover your truest, most congruent self.

My Credentials

  • Licensed Professional Counselor, Mental Health Services Provider, TN license #2775

  • M.S. in Community Counseling from Georgia State University

  • Diploma, Christian Counseling from Richmont Graduate University

  • EMDR Level I trained- Somatic and Attachment focused

  • Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Metagem Institute

My professional background includes school counseling, non-profit counseling ministry, university counseling services, and private practice.

In addition to my academic training, I have pursued further training in the Enneagram, Internal Family Systems and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Other areas of interest and study include contemplative spiritual formation, Ignatian spirituality, and mindfulness-based practices. I participate in a peer consultation and psychodynamic psychotherapy study group and am a member of Nashville Psychotherapy Institute.

All credentials aside, in my journey as a therapist, I have been as influenced by literature, poetry, science, philosophy, theology, and the ongoing examination of my own life as I have by my formal training.

We think that the point is to pass the test or overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.
